US Peace Corps Peace Corps Volunteers have been helping people to fight hunger, disease, illiteracy, poverty and lack of opportunity around the world since 1961. Thanks to the efforts of more than 150,000 volunteers, more than two and a half million acres of cropland are more productive; more than 14 million people have benefitted from water, sanitation, and health programs; at least five million have learned English, the international language of commerce; and thousands of new small businesses have been launched.

The Solution |
|
The US Peace Corps wanted to recapture the imagination of the American public, particularly young Americans. Leaders in the organization needed an effective avenue to present information to potential program participants. With increasing Internet access on college and university campuses, the Web was a natural choice for delivery. The only question that remained was how to make the most exciting presentation without taking up too much bandwidth in the dial-up connections commonly found in dorm rooms at the time.
With more than 35 years of significant accomplishments and well deserved public recognition by world leaders throughout the organization's history, DMIND knew the Peace Corps site would not lack content. Our Web strategists suggested an interactive timeline that would enable site visitors to learn about the US Peace Corps by decade. To bring the decades to life, DMIND used the newest technology available on the Web, including Shockwave, QuickTime movies and sound, all in the familiar format of an HTML page. Our unique integration of technologies enabled low bandwidth users to download the Interactive Recruitment Tool with relative ease. |
